Do we want to destroy our country and replace it with a more progressive one? Or obey our Constitution and restore the republic?

Today is the 800th birthday of the Magna Carta. This day in history
Here is an excellent Wall Street Journal article about the Magna Carta.
This Great Charter is considered to be the foundation of free government, both in English law and in the United States Constitution. The Magna Carta was carried to the New World and made the basis for law in the colonies. From the WSJ article:
“. . . the first edition of the Great Charter was published on American soil in 1687 by William Penn, who explained that it was what made Englishmen unique: ‘In France, and other nations, the mere will of the Prince is Law, his word takes off any man’s head, imposeth taxes, or seizes any man’s estate, when, how and as often as he lists; But in England, each man hath a fixed Fundamental Right born with him, as to freedom of his person and property in his estate, which he cannot be deprived of, but either by his consent, or some crime, for which the law has imposed such a penalty or forfeiture.’”
Yes, we are born with certain freedoms and rights!
I love Publius Huldah’s simple explanations. Here is a video titled Where do our rights come from? Video part 1 and part 2. Here is a link to a transcript of the video.
Our rights are a gift from God—not from government. Of course, it is necessary to have a government that supports and protects those rights. Our Constitution established that sort of government.
These quotes affirm that the Bible was the basis for our Constitution.
John Adams is a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and our second President. “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
James Wilson, Signer of the Constitution; U. S. Supreme Court Justice, "Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is divine. . . . Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other."
Noah Webster, author of the first American Speller and the first Dictionary stated, "The moral principles and precepts contained in the scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. . . All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible."
Some governments are run by dictators who grant only limited rights to the people, and under many governments individual freedoms and rights are subordinated to the “collective.” Our founding documents protected individual freedom and declared that the authority to govern is granted in a limited fashion by the people and that the governed are the source of power. This was a unique idea among the nations of the world and one worth preserving for future generations. But, after 230 years, it seems that this ideal form of government no longer has God’s blessing.
6,000 years of history tell a sorry story of human societies and governments. Governments have come and gone; nations have been captured and subdued by other nations; many nations have disappeared from the Earth; great world empires have toppled. Students of the Bible can easily see God’s Hand in all of history as He carries out His plan for the world and the humans He created.
Daniel 4:17 says: “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”
We can see that our nation is following the pattern of previous nations. We became complacent in our plenty, smug in our wisdom, proud in our accomplishments. There is no doubt that our morality eroded as we were convinced that we didn't need God.
Radio preacher J. Vernon McGee, in his Through the Bible program, noted that this story is as old as the ancient Hebrews and as fresh as today's news. He called it the “hoop” (or cycle) of history—“spiritual apostasy” (failure of the temple or the church), followed by “moral awfulness” (immorality in the home and society), then followed by “political anarchy” or bondage.
Remember, the Hebrews lost the book of law IN THE TEMPLE. Their enemies didn't take it or destroy it (at that time); they just lost it. Same thing has happened in our time. The churches get their direction from secular books and sources. They have lost the Word of God IN THE CHURCHES. The people now have no moral guidance, no absolutes and are easily misled. THEN we get the government we deserve.
Someone has described the progression of societies in this way.
From bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependency;
from dependency back again to bondage
Before we attempt to take back our government perhaps we should get our spiritual house in order.
